Card Nicknames: The poverty card, the hardship card.
Short meaning: The Five of Pentacles represents hardship, usually financial problems. It could mean a period of unemployment or other economic troubles. Drawing this card in the past position usually indicates that life was hard as a child, perhaps the family was poor or parents were harsh. In the future position, the card may predict a coming job loss or money flow problems. Sometimes the card refers to other types of hardship, such as poor health. If drawn while a person's economic status is solid, perhaps there is a need to watch finances more carefully, or save money for upcoming needs and shortages.
